Preparing for the Annapurna Mandala trail VIII (2008)
Mmmm, as hinted at in our FAQ, the main result from
our preparation is that we wonder: are we really prepared?
We bought some new equipment and could share the list with you, but this
would just show that an adventure like this does require some investment
beyond training hours.
If equipment is your thing: best to check the couple of sites of other
AMT participants (previous editions) that are listed on the
links page.
Sponsors would have been nice but why would anybody want to do that?
Training? again, visit the sites of other participants on the
links page if you're after impressive, even daunting
schedules. Yes, one does need regular exercise but living in tropical flats
is not ideal.

Not just because it is hard to do high mileage weeks - difficult for anyone
anywhere with a life - but because there are preciously few others who are
interested to join on longer runs. I pay homage to them here.
Maybe the most important element of preparation was changing my running
technique. Changing the way you run is not something accomplished within a
short time. So 'starting to change' is probably the better description. If
running the AMT2008 is within my capabilities is questionable, but I hope
that
chirunning the AMT2008 is.
